Instant center location
 
51 chevy truck, mustang ii , 2” drop spindles, triangulated four link, Been reading about instant center, anti squat line, center of gravity etc...question is, based on your previous experience, when installing the four link, lower bar is parallel with ground...what degree down (towards front) should the upper bar be to get an IC at or slightly below the squat line, or what has worked well for you? Not looking for a drag setup, more street and fun curve driving, think autocross.. i ran across an article i think art morrison engineer, suggested 6-7 degrees down..opinions?

It's hard to say what your truck will need...every one differs some....
On most street 4links, a parallel bar setup works good...
If you have the mount plates with multiple hole your limited by whatever the hole pattern will get you

Depends on lots of things. What the truck will want as far as instant center and what you can get with the kit that you have may not line up. Until you see what the weight split looks like the amount of power you have when done and the total weight of the truck it will be hard to determine. You can map the four link out on paper and look at all the available combinations to see what the kit has. We would do this on the drag cars and shift the front bracket up and down to see where it needed to go to get us the range we wanted and then weld the brackets in the car. Then the chart we made with the map we drew was used to tune the car when we were done. There are programs out there that will do the work for you.

With the lower bar level, you can set some general rules. A steeper angle on the top bar (down in front) will move the IC closer to the rear axle. A flatter angle (closer to ) but still down in front) will move the IC towards, or past, the front CL. * A flat ) angle top bar will be parallel with the lower bar and thus have NO weight transfer. - but is good for burnouts. Starting in the 5 to 7 degree range will get you somewhere close for these trucks.
