1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
A guy a couple hours away from me has this for sale. What do you think it’s worth in such rough condition? He’s asking $2500 OBO. https://i791.photobucket.com/albums/...skufbap1a.jpeg

Intact , clear title , starts and drives , Offer $2,000 cash . That deserves a complete restoration . :chevy:
I'd buy it at $2,500 if that's what it took to get it . |
Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
Personally, I wouldnt touch it for anything other than to junk around in it and not touch it. To perform a restoration on that would be very costly and by the looks of it you would find it to be much more that you thought once you got into it. Can it be done?- yes. Would I mess with it?- not a chance.

Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
I’m spoiled because I’m from CA, so all that rust scares me. It’s always worse than what it looks like at first glance, and it looks pretty terrible at my first glance.
I think the good (and cheap) trucks have all but dried up. It just depends on your motivation, skill level, free time, and motivation. There are way to many restorations that get put up for sale, but if you’re up for it, save it! |
Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
You'd be paying about a $1K premium for the fact that it's an Anniversary K, in my opinion. And if you want an Anniversary K, then it is likely worth the asking price. But go into this eyes wide open, the rust you CAN see is an indication that the body is in very poor condition - and also an indication the frame, cab mounts, etc etc etc are all in the same boat. This would be a major resto - and yes, you'd have a cool truck when you're done - but not one that the extra collectibility of an Anniversary would recoup the restoration expense. If you enjoy the heavy metalwork this would require, I'd say buy it - can't always put a price on what a given truck can mean to someone (in this case, I'm referring to you, not the person you think you may sell it to eventually). If you're asking about "value" - as in the title of this post - there isn't much because the cost to restore will far exceed what you'd ever be able to sell it for - for this old bird it would have to come down to passion alone.

Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
I would worry about the frame the most. If it's good it may be worth it. Did you finish your GMC? I know you have the skills for this anniversary truck.

Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
Be interesting to know where and how it got so crusty ? Did it sit by a salt mine ?

Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
Thanks for all your input guys. I decided to take a chance on it. This is only the 2nd anniversary K truck I've ever seen and I kind of have always wanted one. We settled on $2100 and I'm bringing it home tomorrow. I guess if it's too far gone I can always just resell it. I'll post more pictures when I get it home.

Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
I bought a 68 K20 anniversary truck a very long time ago. It was a decent deal and I had room to store it. But over the years I slowly used and sold parts from it. A year ago or so I sold the frame (that's all the parts I had left haha).
Now everything I have left for it fits in my desk drawer. Tins, title, and build sheet heh. |
Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
I think 2500 is the worth if it yard drives. Sorry to say, this is either a good plow truck, winter beater, or full resto candidate. If I were restoring it, I would find a whole body from Utah or something like that.

Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
Looks like all the sheet metal needs replaced. Lots of time and money. Look before you leap! Offer him 1500 cash.

Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
I almost wanna trade my 2wd anniversary edition for it. Almost..
You have more rust than mine and that is damn near impossible. Congrats, 4wd alone is hard enough to find. |

It is good to see that a previous owner installed a seat cover BEFORE the seat took a complete dump, although I can see, underneath the cover, it does not look so good... Miy 68 Golden had/has the solid white cover, the vinyl has a simple imprint pattern on it. THe drivers side was toast when I bought it... Carry on!!!:metal: |

I like the truck! So much untapped potential!

Got a quick picture of the SPID. Some cool options.

Re: 1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?
I wonder why they listed the posi, twice??? Maybe once for the posi, other for the 3.73 gear..
Mine was not a posi, 3.07 gear and has a steel floor I hope the 327 is original... |
