Engine compartment done
1 Attachment(s)
I fired up my Gen IV 5.3 last weekend for the first time but I had to cobble together the air intake temporarily. Today the mailman brought me a 4" elbow that had long enough legs to allow me to clear the alternator. I heard the MAF likes a straight run so I centered it. My plan was always to have the top rad hose on the passenger side and the air intake to the drivers side, partly to obstruct the ECM and the associated mess of wires. I also made a block off for the big hole in the front ps of the engine cover and painted the cover with black vinyl paint to brighten it up. No deluxe heater makes for a cleaner look as well.

Looks nice and clean!
What kind of radiator did you go with? Inlet/outlet sizes? Upper and lower hose part #'s? |
Re: Engine compartment done
Where’d you get your intake?

Looks great! I'm with MDPotter. I'd like to know info on your radiator, inlet/outlet sizes and hose PN's. I'm at a point where I'm trying to figure out radiator hoses for my K10 5.3L Gen III swap. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Upper rad hose is Gates 21970 that I had to shorten 3 1/2". 1 1/2" rad x 1 1/4" engine Lower rad hose is Continental 61416 My motor is Gen IV. Not sure if that makes a difference for the hoses. |
Re: Engine compartment done
I should add that someone on here used a Continental 64143 for a top hose but for my Gen IV it was too short and too small at one end. Fits Gen III maybe?

Re: Engine compartment done
I'm late to this but looks great Moe! Curious to know if you always planned to mount your ECM where it is. I've got a stock harness as well and have the same engine cover (L96) but want to route my harness and ecm either to back firewall or against the firewall in the cab.

Re: Engine compartment done
I had the stock harness thinned out but that’s the stock routing direction so I didn’t have much choice where the ECM mounted. The air filter hides it a bit. It would take a lot of work to re route a stock harness to move the ECM location but you can buy aftermarket ones that will work for what you want.
Did you notice the block off I made for the front ps of the engine cover? |
