Another Spark Plug Question....

My (54) 235 has AC 46 plugs in it. I asked the local parts house to send up a good resistor replacement. What I got was Autolite 46! I know these are not resistor, but how close are they to the AC 46 plugs?
Also, what would be a good resistor plug (not a Champ....) to use for a pretty much stock 235?

In the old days you could add an R to the 46 to get R46, a resistor plug. Too bad it's not available. In 2020 the plug most often listed is an AC R43. It's colder than the R46 but fuel today is cleaner and you might not need the higher temperature plug.

Autolite #46 is a resistor plug. It's listed as an 18mm plug so it's likely it won't fit even if you wanted to use it.

Autolite 317 is listed as a direct cross for an R46. I'm not sure if it is... bring the old plug with ya to the parts store. ;)

Autolite 85BP is a suitable replacement plug on paper also.

FWIW electronic ignition does a great job of helping keep plugs firing.
