Corded Roll Up Light?

Has anyone with the new body style Tahoes, Burbs, trucks found a "good" way to mount one of the earlier corded reel lights under the hood? I miss that light from our '99 Tahoe and have a spare I would like to mount on our recently purchased '05. Just does not seem to be a lot of good mounting areas under the hood, very little open space to do such.

The 99-02 T800 trucks had underhood, glovebox, and floor lamps.
GM de-contented the trucks in 2003 by removing these neat little features.
I'm going to add all three to my 2005 when it warms up a bit more.

The glovebox and floor lights take a bit more effort to install than the underhood lamp. I have the connectors to use the factory wiring hookups in the distribution panels. I just need the time in the barn when it's warm.

I have one of the GM 12450086 underhood lights they used in 1999-2002. It has a built in switch to turn the light on and off. 1A Auto sells em for $20 but I won't vouch for the quality.

The mounting cutouts are still present in the underside of the 2003-2007 hoods so it should install in a few seconds. I would think you could install the roll up lamp in the same location.

To install the T800 lamp I'll need the proper Metripak 150.2 plug with terminals and seals or buy the assembled repair pigtail like the GM 15306302 or AC Delco PT1357. I'm going to use the ground stud on the cowl and run the hot over to the fuse panel stud through an inline ATM fuse holder.

Not at all familiar with the light in the pic, new style from the one I have I'm sure. I mounted one of the older style on my '71 4x4 and my '88 Caprice. Former work car, now just a knock around, get around driver that is still comfortable and serves me well. Will look into mounting as you mentioned.

Pictured is the stock lamp for the T800 trucks.

You can install any lamp you like as long as it'll turn off when you close the hood or you remember to switch it off.
