Help with pedal install

3 Attachment(s)
I took apart my truck maybe 6 years ago. Sadly in my burnt-out state I can not figure out how the gas pedal of all thing mounts. Searched the internet... no real help. I factory insulation on the firewall that has no places for holes. No obvious places for a bracket to be mounted, because just bolting the pedal assembly to the floor right now wouldn't work as it needs a lot of room to move. I'd appreciate any help you guys can provide.

A picture is worth... well you know... The mounting bracket is attached on the engine side of the firewall. The under hood picture also shows the optional camper wiring harness which obscures the mounting bracket.

Your missing the mounting plate that holds what you pictured on to the firewall

It depends on what year your truck is. 71-72 have the cable and ones before have a rod. Not sure when they swapped over though.:chevy:

In response to post 1...

Your truck appears to be a 67-70. If so, I don't recall any additional mounting plate. I believe they were only used on the 71s and 72s which used a hanging pedal and throttle cable to the carb rather than a floor mounted pedal and rod.

Frankly, mine has never been removed from the truck, but based on the pictures and my recollection (I'm not near my truck to verify) this assembly is inserted from the engine side of the firewall. Below is a repeat of the second picture in post 2. The yellow markings show the heads of what appear to be hex head sheet metal screws. The blue arrow is directed at the top part of the accelerator assembly.

EDIT: The blue arrow to the left is very hard to see. Also, the camper harness wiring over the bracket is probably not on your truck.

Here are two other pictures that show the back of my original pedal, the pedal studs on the floor and and the installed linkage.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I forgot to mention the trucks a '69. I did learn in my research about two different styles. The mounting to the engine side of the firewall makes sense and the pictures helped. I appreciate it
