Cam Downgrade

Guess I'm officially old now. Getting tired of the cam in my new crate engine. It has great power but the idle is pretty bumpy due to a 108 LSA. thinking about going to mild cam with a 112 LSA or similar or even the stock L31 cam. Has anyone done this and did you really notice any loss in power during normal driving? I know I'll lose some top end power but what about the low end?

Dude the stock L31 cam is pathetic. At least get an LT1 [gen2] cam.
Best option would be the smallest modern grind. I think comp has like 203/210 with a 110lsa.

Go custom grind so you can get that 114 lobe separation and still have some duration. Look at the LS cams and you will follow what I am saying. The only concern will be DCR if the crate motor has alot of compression to begin with.

What's so pathetic about it? Have you ever run one? I have been running one for about 3 years now and it does everything I want out of a cam. I have around 300 hp and 375 pounds of torque and the power is in the low rpm range where you need it.

looks like the LT1 cam has a little too much lift. With Vortec heads max is about .480.

its a sp350/357 crate motor with 9.0 advertised compression ratio. the cam is 215/223 @ .050 with .473 lift and 107/109 lobe centers equaling 108 LSA. I had no idea when I bought the engine that it had a 108 LSA and that equated to a bumpy idle.

Marine cams or nitrous cams are great street cams for smooth idle and decent power. Looking through Comp's catalog there are a lot of options.

The XM262H has 218/224 @.050 and 112 lsa. And the XM256 is 212/218 @ .050 and 112 lsa to really smooth it out.
