Inline 6

I have a GM 6 cylinder motor that I know nothing about. I don't think that it is a 292 as the motor mounts are strate across from each other and I believe that the 292's where staggered. How do I find what the motor is ? ( 235-250 etc)

I believe the GMC pickups did not get the new design GM L6 until 1963 and it was a 230. I think they got their first 250 in 1965. I will be corrected if I am wrong.

My info does not agree with Mongo and he has a high percentage of right.

I just put a 250 from a 68 Camaro in my 1959 GMC -- had a 270- , so I found out a little info on it.

side covers on a 292 are 6" tall. 250 and below are 4".
