Fuel tank straps
This is probably a stupid question, but I want to double check before I waste my rivets doing it wrong.
On the fuel tank straps, one strap is longer than the other. Does the longer strap go with the taller bracket (and taller side of the tank), or the other way around? https://i.postimg.cc/KzcJGP9L/4-BA15...247-A21-CB.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Kz9QR1VW/92641-...52234-BCCE.jpg |
Re: Fuel tank straps
I just dropped the left side tank on my '75. I'll check them in the morning and get back to you

Re: Fuel tank straps
Thanks, but I’m looking for the actual strap portion itself, as the replacements have two different lengths and mine were so rotten that I didn’t get to measure the old ones. The brackets are self explanatory, they can only fit on one way on each side.

Re: Fuel tank straps
Both of my factory straps measure the same - 24 1/8 inches. The threaded bolts attached to the end of the straps are the same length as well.

Re: Fuel tank straps
That’s weird, they’re supposed to be different lengths

Re: Fuel tank straps
Been a while since I did mine, but from what I can remember they were same length for the straps. One thing that popped to mind, is what size tank. All my stuff were SWB trucks with the 16Gal tanks. Wonder if there is difference in the straps used on the longer tanks that came in some LWB models?

following. Getting ready to mount the 2nd tank

Re: Fuel tank straps
Took a chance and figured it out. Short strap goes on the short hanger (towards the front of the vehicle), and the long strap goes on the longer hanger (rear of vehicle).

Re: Fuel tank straps
Any pics of both tanks? We are looking to go back to dual tanks. Dropped the only one and will need everything for passenger side that is missing.

Re: Fuel tank straps
Check in here to see if any of these will help you, I have all the pictures I took of the tanks posted in this thread:
