Lubricate control arm bushing threads?

1 Attachment(s)
Apply grease to threads before assembling? Since they have fittings obviously the grease goes inside once assembled and in use. But just wanted to be sure before putting it on the threads now. There is a torque spec in the manual and lube vs. dry will alter the result. Altho i can't find my 1/2 - 3/4" drive adapter so I may have to skip the torque wrench and make them "tight".

Wheel bearing grease? Anti-seize? General purpose grease?

You're only going to grease the inside threads, right? If so, I would, and did on my rebuild. The outside threads could be greased, as long as the face of the bushing where it contacts the control arm doesn't have grease on it, because that friction interface is where the torque is developed. That would only facilitate installation by reducing the running torque.

I will grease - or not grease - whatever those who have done it say. I'm learning as I go. Not a n00b at auto mechanical projects overall, but have not done this task before. I'm not ashamed to say I don't know what's correct and what's not.

So inner threads OK, outer threads maybe a little to ease it going in, but don't let it build up to where the grease will get on the contact area? Makes sense.

Thank you!
