88-94 steering column

I found an 88-94 tilt column locally. I have a 54 with MII front, 4l60e transmission.
Is the 88-94 column a good fit or will it need cut down?

Will the early shift linkage fit?

I know these columns had lock cylinder problems and the tilt bushings will probably need to be replaced. With the parts being inexpensive and available, I don't see any issues there other than fitment.

Mid 70's truck column is a lot cleaner as far as not having all the junk hanging off it. Still has the key switch but doesn't have the bulky dimmer switch hanging off it.

I've had a lot of GM tilts apart to tighten them up in the past 30 years as my wife is short (4-10) and has a bad habit of using the wheel to pull herself forward and in the process ends up loosening up the tilt mechanism. All I have ever had to do is take them apart and tighten up the screws that hold them together internally.

I'm not sure about length of the column as I have never had one of that model out. I have shortened collapsable columns before but that can be a challenging process if you intend to use the shifter or intend to keep the steering column lock feature if you run a floor shift.

Still if you are happy with the looks of the column so be it. The dimmer on the column is a nice feature even with the added clutter.

Re: 88-94 steering column

I've been trying to find a 70's column for quite a while, I've been coming up with a goose egg. Pretty much everything around here has went to the shredder. My buddy a 53 with an S10 column that is similar to the 88-94, which I`m not offended by.

To be quite honest, I've also been looking for a 80's Chrysler column also, they are almost identical to the GM 80's column. I just figured it would be easier to adapt the GM to my 4l60e.
