What mounts to use for K20 BBC install?

I am looking for information on what mounts to use for a 402 BBC install into a 72 K20. Right now the truck has the original crossmember and mounts for an SBC 350 motor.

Was wondering if there is a new version that will work or possibly a tubular weld in set. Thanks for the help!

I have done numerous BBC conversions on 4X4's and always just used the small block mounts, I will add that you may want to move the entire setup forward approx 2-3 inches as if you are not using a body lift the valve covers and distributor will hit the firewall, especially if using an HEI distributor, Here is a pic of a BBC in a Burb using the stock small block mounts and location, as you can see its a tight fit, the other picture you can see the previous owners modifications to the fire wall to make it work, even so the distributor was almost touching.

Thanks so much for the info. Was aware of the clearance issue just was not clear at all what mounts. Again thanks and I will proceed with SBC mounts and possibly to something custom with the firewall tunnel. Again thanks!

Your welcome! Always happy to share info. One thing I almost forgot to mention is you have to be careful on which oil pan to use. If your 402 came out of a C10-C30 the pan should work, A C40-60 pan may have issues plus if it came out of an Impala it might be an issue. You will need a pan that is referred to as the "Chevelle" pan, the orange pan pictured is the Impala pan, the black one is the style needed.

Re: What mounts to use for K20 BBC install?

My 68 is an original 396 pickup, and YES, it came with that engine, and I still have it...I bought the original type (68-71) new mounts, years ago, even though it has not had the engine in it, for waay too long.
I found out about the 72 clam shell style mounts (that are like the 73-87 mounts (small and big block). My hop is to use the 72 clam shell mounts in my big block 68 AND I and putting a small block in my 67 C-10, plan on using clam shell (72) on it too. THe design looks better for the long run...to me.

I have a 73-up setup (frame brackets and clamshells, and engine brackets) that I may experimnt with on the 67...

Oh, Landarts! Thanks for your builds, here. There are great to follow, and helpful in all aspects of your repairs, especially the body work! I hope you are recovered from your health issues, so you can do MORE work, and post here!!! My interests are in 2WD stuff, but your 4WD and 2 WD stuff is ALL good!!!

I have a extra set of the bbc motor mounts that are for 1972 on up trucks, I don’t have the clam shells that bolt to engine but them are easily to purchase.
