Stretch a cab?

My thoughts are wandering. My biggest complaint with my truck is the lack of leg room for my 6'3" frame. Anyone ever stretch a cab? Not a quad cab but 6"? 8"? How would one accomplish this?

Where are you thinking of making it bigger? The doors or the rear portion of the cab?

Not my current truck but maybe a future project. I would imagine stretching the rear of the cab and roofline if even possible.

There was a guy here that did it. “Bomp” I believe was his name. He had a build thread but the photobucket fiasco years back ruined it. From what I remember it was pretty labor intensive, but a great subtle mod.

Yes, I was looking for that thread. "Bomp"if I remember correctly, he was making his bigger for the same reason, was quite a big guy I guess. It's going to take lots and lots of spot welds.

You might find one similar in this thread:

If the gas tank is located inside the cab, some have moved it to under the bed to gain a few additional inches of leg room. Don't know if they moved the seat mount back, too, once the tank was out.

I thought about taking the tank out, but I didn't think about moving the seat back. That may give someone just what they need.

If you you remove the tank you really don't gain any LEG room ,the top of seat usually hits the top of cab above tank first. I did the tank conv. on my 69 and never gained an inch of leg room extra storage space is nice though.

Re: Stretch a cab?

Removing the tank doesn't really accomplish much if legroom is the concern unless you recess the seating into the inner cab sheet-metal. Problem w/that will be your noggin gets real close to that back wall/glass @ that point.

Options are moving the pedals/flooring forward or stretching the cab length the amount desired (or a combo of the two). This was something I wanted to do on my 67/68 project & a contributing reason it got moth-balled.
