Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
Am I the only one who has this bumper ? It was ordered and displays on the SPID. It’s a heavy sucker ! Painted white to match the front bumper I guess. Any information about it would be appreciated....:metal:

Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
Isn't the V38 bumper the rear painted bumper to match the front bumper? what people these days call a sport bumper. A base truck came with no rear bumper.

In my experience these were very uncommon to see on pickups. Much more common to see on blazers and suburbans. But it was an option…

Optional V38 Bumper, I’ve never seen another one like it, any ideas on where to locate replacement lenses for the license plate lights ?

Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
Interesting. A Rear Step Bumper with an RPO code. Most RSBs were locally sourced dealer add-ons.
Have you tried Truck and Car Shop of Orange, CA for the License Plate Lamp Lenses? |
Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
Sunshine I have been playing with these trucks for decades and have never seen another one. Thanks for the tip on the lenses...Jack

The one on my '68 C/10 Stepside was a dealer add-on, bought with the truck. It was sold by Felix Chevrolet in Downtown Los Angeles and the bumper had a tag: ''SAF-T-BUMPER'' LA CALIF. I'd put up a pic, but Manage Attachments isn't working. |
Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
Orange, I'd like to see the bumper on your '68 C/10 Stepside .........
I'm building a stepside I was was thinking of shortening my original step bumper because it needs a new checker plate top anyway. |
Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
Found this thread from 2003 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=79753 post #12 seems to indicate that the v38 bumper would have been a painted sport bumper, like on the Blazers. To much stuff seems to confirm that the painted rear step bumper is v43. It is possible that it was removed and the step bumper was added. A lot can happen in 50 years.

Is this a factory step? Thought it was

Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
My 70 k20 has that option
|
Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
The bumper on my 71 C/20 is original to the truck. It’s listed on the SPID V38. The pickup was ordered by the Burlington Northern Railroad. It was also listed on the build sheet I found underneath the seat springs. Painted white to match the front bumper.

Not working. For some reason it splits the Manage Attachments window onto another page, and it's impossible to sync. I'll have to Restart the machine, and that wipes all my pages. I'll Try it later. |

Wouldn't the bumper on the rear of my old '72 Blazer be the V38? I got it off a '71 GMC C1500 shortbed that was in the junkyard- no pics of the SPID from that truck though. The painted step bumper would be the V43 in post #4, correct?

Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
Very interesting - love this kinda stuff!
|
Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?
Again the V38 is original to the vehicle ! Truck was ordered by BN. Close family friend bought it directly from them with very low miles. Rail yard truck. I got it and pulled it out of his barn after sitting for decades. Frame shows absolutely no signs of it ever being removed.
