Seat Springs

1 Attachment(s)
I got my truck seat apart and found some broken springs. I can patch it with materials on hand, but I'm curious if anyone has springs they want to get rid of. They are the left most (driver's side) top spring and the one that is shaped like a "V" that goes from the top edge to the bottom edge. I faked it onto the other spring where the hog rings are. Half of that "V" shaped spring is missing. It's the full foam seat.

If your lucky you'll find someone willing to part with the springs you need ,They aren't reproduced , another option is using " Music wire " that is a high carbon spring steel and bend your own new ones , The side springs are still available , Repairing broken springs rarely works for long , And the last thing you want is a broken spring tearing thru your new seat cover . Music wire comes in multiple thicknesses you'll have to measure your existing springs :chevy:

These spring clips work well and easily installed using regular pliers .

What is the difference between music wire and stainless steel?
They are stronger than other types of springs. All forms of high-carbon steel is stronger than stainless steel. Music wire springs, of course, are made of high-carbon steel, making them exceptionally strong and durable. You can use music wire springs for high-stress applications without fear of them breaking

Does anyone know if that V shaped spring from the passenger side will work on the drivers side?
I save the passenger side springs years ago from a trashed seat but haven't got around to seeing if they will do for the repair. ( far from the top of my to-do list )

I went and looked at my seat. They look the same, to me.

OK, I'd rather find a ready-made spring from another vehicle. I'm wondering if anyone has scrounged springs from a newer year vehicle? I could just go the junkyard and look around.

Went to a hobby store, got spring wire and bent it to shape. As soon as the seat track paint is dry, I'll upholster the seat base. I'll do the backrest this morning.

Oof. I'm having trouble installing the foam and covers. It may just be inexperience, or lack of knowledge, or maybe I'm just not strong enough anymore. I'm in Simi Valley. Anyone know someone who can conquer this beast? #theolderigethtebetteriwas :(

Huh. I talked to the wife about it, and she went out and looked it over. She does quilting and figured it out. Hopefully I can still get it done. Give me a wrench or a hammer, I'm good. Cloth/vinyl, I need help. :o
