Bench Seat Question

1 Attachment(s)
I think I have the wrong bench seat for my 69 C10. I know it was in the truck when I took it apart 12 years ago, but it doesn't line up with the floor holes.

Seat bracket outer bolts holes are 47.5" wide and the outer holes in the floor are 51" apart on center. I do not remember how the PO had it mounted.

My question do you build/buy an adapter (if there is such a thing) or just buy the correct seat?

My guess this seat came out of a later model truck.

Thanks

Re: Bench Seat Question

From the picture the seat looks too narrow. Mounting it up centered in the cab would probably have the driver very off center from the steering wheel. But maybe the picture just makes it look off?

This seat was in my truck when I got it but two things. It was very dirty and the installer had just drilled new holes in the floor to mount it.

First, I sprayed it down with super clean, turned my pressure washer to its lowest setting, and washed it until the water ran clean. Figured if I messed it up I wasn’t loosing anything. Then I welded up the holes in the floor and made me some brackets to use the factory locations.

Re: Bench Seat Question

Kinda looks like a squarebody seat with the seat belt holes and how the seat bottom curves in at the hinges.

If you like the seat you have, make some sort of way to bolt it down. If you were planning on recovering it or doing any changes to that seat and still want to keep a bench seat, go for the correct bench even if you have to restore the correct one

Thanks for the information- just as I thought it's from a square body.

Now I'm looking for a correct bench seat for my 69 c10

Yep that seat is from a Square Body, a 1981-87 to be exact.

That bowtie upholstery design must have been something available to purchase as a kit because I have seen a lot of those seats over the years. Back when Truckin' magazine was a thing.

Lots of people like them. If you steam clean that one and put it up for sale you will likely have more than enough money to buy a correct one for your truck.

There are some upholstery places that will Embroidery that bow tie on the cover. And chances are that is the case. As good as condition that that seems to be in, then it’s a fairly new cover that someone had made, and then had the emblem sewn it.
