Difference in seat foam for 67-68 and 69-72

Does anyone know what the difference is in the seat foam for the 67-68 bench seat? Usa1 will sell just the seat base foam for a 67-68 but not the 69-72. I don’t need foam for the back, just the base so I am wondering if I can use it for my 1970.

I believe that bench seat base foam is the same as long as you have the full foam seat option. There were two different model bench seats full foam and bare bones foam with flat springs.

If I understand it correctly, the seats in '67 and '68 had a seat frame and springs that only required a thin foam pad. Look at the vendor websites for examples. My truck happens to be a CST with a "full foam seat", which is kind of a joke, since it does actually still have springs- it just has a thick foam piece.

Both the 67-68 and the 69-72 foams they are offering are for full foam seats. I tried calling and I was told that they are different but they couldn’t give me any more info than that.

They are different. CJ Pony Parts have both. And I would order from them, shipping is free. And sometimes they have sales.

Thanks. Do you know what the difference is? I started a thread a few days ago about converting a seat from spring to full foam. I think you commented on that one as well. Since I am doing a conversion it may not matter but I am just wondering what the difference is.

It’s thinner

So you're saying full foam only seat bottoms have two different thicknesses? Not talking about the seat bottoms that have half their thickness foam the other half spring.

I thought all full foam seat bottoms were the same thickness of foam.

These are both full foam seat bottoms. But the 67-68 is thinner than the 69-72.

You need to determine what seat frame you have before ordering your foam. A previous owner could have changed the seat. There are 3 different seat mounting brackets and different spring configurations that can help you identify what you have.
Check out this thread, it should help.
