HRC Badging

Aloha. I’m looking at a suburban that has a different decal. It’s a a HRC Decal overlaid the outline of America. It’s a 1986 version

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

HRC = Honda Racing Corporation. This was a division of Honda formed in 1982, for the development and support of motorcycle racing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Racing_Corporation

It's likely a period-correct sticker, but is not specific to a GM vehicle in any way.

Do you known that first hand or relying on google? The logo is different. I thought it posted but here’s the pic.

That info is from google. I know nothing about motorcycle racing.

Most of the honda racing decals on google show the letters with an american flag. It wouldn't surprise me at all if other decals used the usa map instead, like yours did. It's just that none of those have survived as Ebay-available stickers or as digital copies.

The font thing is throwing me for a bit of a loop, as well.

Perhaps that is not a Honda racing decal. Is this truck a modified unit, like a custom coach company? Do you have any more pics?

I got some more info. Still trying to piece it together

Holiday Rambler Corportation. Seems the truck has some towing goodies so maybe a tow rig outfitted by them.

More pics to follow once it’s all set to come to hawaii.

Here’s a full pic. Still Unsure what it was used for. Since it has lows miles maybe a demo for Holiday Rambler or maybe a tow rig. It’s fitted with some good towing parts like an Anti sway stabilizer, brake assist, heavy duty springs plus helper air bags. It’s a 454 with 3.21 gears too.

Mods sorry this wasn’t posted in suburban area—this page gets more hits. Plus it’s still a square body. 😜

Very cool rig! Post some pictures of the custom add ons when you have time. Very interesting to see what was modified/added. Very interesting it seems built to tow, yet has 3.21 gears….

Also, don’t feel bad for not posting in the burb section. It’s a ghost town in there. Haha

I was digging on the internet and found some more info on the trail-o-matic installed on the dash. Wait till you read who it was from. Pretty impressive. I sent an email to Holiday Rambler to see if they have any information. I don’t have pics or info get on the helper airbags. I’m not sure if the email will provide any details. The company was sold to Harley Davidson in 1986 and then sold again to present owner. But the color and style of the decal matches Holiday Rambler travel trailers of the era. The car was sold in Jackson Missouri at a dealership call Brennecke’s I assume since it has that badge on it but I think
it is out of business. Then the guy I purchased it from bought it from a pvt party original owner in Sacramento. I would like like to find out how it’s connected to Holiday Rambler.

“Yes - my dad invented the system. It was called the ASCS for Automatic Stabilization Control System.

It is comprised of 3 "boxes" - Control, Command and Sensing units.
The control, which you have, goes (obviously) in the vehicle.
My father invented the system in the late 1960's & sold it exclusively to Holiday Rambler starting in 1972. It had mercury switches in the sensing and command units which, when the trailer swayed, would make contact, sending a signal to vehicle (control unit) which would pop the breaks of just the trailer. (quick on/off of brakes) which would snap the trailer out of it's sway. The control unit in the vehicle would adjust the sensitivity. Plus you could apply the trailer breaks manually from the control unit I believe, too.

The command unit was mounted on the front of the trailer near the hitch but still on trailer. The sensing unit was mounted in the back of the trailer. Both these units had 4 mercury switches which were calibrated to make connection with a certain amount of "sway".

Anyway - that's what it was in a nutshell. My father passed away in 2011 & had stopped manufacturing the units quite a few years before that. There are some folks who are really into vintage Holiday Rambler trailers who may have a working system but they are not out there any longer that I am aware of. When my dad passed away I wish I had taken a few of the systems as I know some would love them. I only took one. Ah well.
