molded power steering return hose

My power steering return hose was leaking so I bought a replacement from LMC. It came as a universal, cut to fit hose so I cut it and put t on. It kinked so I cut it shorter and still it's kinked. I have a fair bit of it left so I could try it longer but decided I'd rather get a molded hose just like the one that use to be on it. I've looked for hours and can't find one.

Should I try to put a longer hose on there? Or, does anyone know where to get a molded hose?

It appears your steel lines have been messed with?
Here is what I believe they should look like.
Maybe someone has a better picture?
There are a lot of different return ports, depending on model and year.
Very easy to have a replacement pump that works but isn't exactly as GM deigned them.
I noticed you have a serpentine pump drive.
A lot of stuff can easily be changed out and still function.
I noticed you are attempting to get it right! Will have fewer issues down the line that way.
Cheers.

Here are 3 pictures showing how the factory did it that may be of further help.

It appears likely the bib on the back, of the pump, maybe pointed in a wrong direction compared to stock?

The molded hose you had may have been from a late model vehicle. Like one of these in the link.
You might try taking the old one to a Napa or other quality parts house and see if they can match it. You might have to shorten one to get what you need. Sometimes looking around a wrecking yard will help finding a suitable donor vehicle.

Good luck.

Re: molded power steering return hose

Since yours is a 4x4 73-87 frame (probably why your hoses are modified) you may have to play around with a few different hose styles to see which ones fit best. Factory 67-72 4x4 trucks use different hoses than the 2wd trucks do because the V8’s sit in the rear position. The hoses are still inverted flare till 81-82 if I remember right, so any of those hoses would be able to connect to a 67-72 pump and box. You’ll have to figure out what style box and pump you’ve got to make sure you get the right style hoses. Earlier are inverted flare and later are o ring.
