Fresh rebuild driving from Socal to Northern Montana area?
I have a c20 that has swapped in a 383 and th400. The process has taken a long time, and basically as soon as its done I planned to drive to to northern usa. It is carbureted and without out time to drive and break it in, I am now doubting this as an option. Could the truck make it with no issues?

If it's a flat tappet cam, break it in per the directions, change the oil and drive it like you stole it. Camon, you know you want to!

Welcome aboard!
Was it a straight engine swap in a driving truck? Or was there a lot of other mechanical and electrical work done to bring a truck back from the dead? Share some information on the truck and the folks here will be happy to recommend things to check on. I wouldn't hesitate to drive that far in my Burban. Take a good selection of hand tools, multimeter, 20' of 12 wire, selection of crimp lugs, several rolls of tape, and a box of ingenuity. We would love to see some pictures of you truck. And if you do decide to drive it. Make a road trip thread so we can all share the adventure. Good chance you'll be passing by some of the members along the way. So let's see them pictures. |
