Battery Cable Routing
Would someone have a routing diagram of the positive side battery cable for my 72 C-10 350? Positive side mount terminal is at the radiator. Spent hours looking thru the factory assembly manual and online. I know the clips are available and would like to do it correct. Sorry if this is in the wrong area, first time poster. Thanks in advance...

I don't have your answer, but welcome to the board!

Re: Battery Cable Routing
Drops straight down to the inner fender then takes a turn right to the engine block on its way to the starter post. There is usually an insulated clamp on the frame rail by the fuel pump. That's about it

Re: Battery Cable Routing
Whatever routing you choose, to get a proper cable length, I get some rope, route it, tie it, till I'm happy, then pull it out and measure it.....works with accuracy every time.

Re: Battery Cable Routing
In my bad opinion, the - cable should go to the block. the + cable goes to the solenoid. The exact AIM wiring is a bit secondary.

Re: Battery Cable Routing
Welcome to the board. Sorry I can't give you the exact route till I get home and look, also not sure if 67 - 72 are the same, I'm going by
a 67. From the insulated clamp on the frame rail then along the the block were the oil pan meets the block there should be two more cable holders bolted in place with the oil pan bolts then up to the starter. |

Re: Battery Cable Routing
I’m not sure the clips are reproduced. The cable routes atop the frame as it courses to the starter and is bolted into place at at two locations - you should see at a glance the more rearward example will be close to the level of the starter. The front OE clamp was sort of P shaped with a semi-circular almost 270 degrees rubberized end where it contacted the cable. The rear example encircled the cable and wasn’t rubberized.
If I recall, they were rotated in orientation 180 degrees relative to each other front vs back. Clamp examples here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...4&postcount=46 |
Re: Battery Cable Routing
Thanks everyone for the help. Both clips were right there on the frame rail.
