'91 S-10 Running too Cold

A good friend called me up asking to put a thermostat in his 1991 S-10 w/2.5 and 5 speed. It would'nt heat up enough to make good heat. So I put in a 195 degree T-stat, and road test. No difference, the guauge will move about a eighth of a inch off the 100 degree mark and stay there.

Outside temp is about 10 - 15F

Even in the summertime, the truck hardly warms up. Only time is reaches normal range is idleing in traffic with the A/C on.

Any suggestions?

Thanks all

Are you talking about actual verified tempertature with a separate mechanical gauge? If you're just going by the factory electronic dash gauge-forget it. They are all junk. Temp is probably fine-gauge just doesn't show it.
