Is there anybody out there?

Either nobody has a 47-54 or you all are fed up with yours. Which is it? I would like to get mine going again and help you with yours but that isn't going to happen is it? If not, just reply if you see this. Thanks

mkmiller1 04-25-2001 08:21 PM

(LOL) I thought I was the only one with a '47-'54 on this board. i've got one I'm just starting back to working on and have two parts trucks(one to soon be for sale). I'm not rich by any means and will be looking for deals on most of the stuff I buy. What model do you have? Mine is a '51 chevy 1/2 ton 5-window. Matthew

I have a '48 half ton, original with the 216 I-6. I have gone through Chevy Duty for most of the parts for it, and have been very pleased with them. It's been restored for about 10 years now, and is a fun summer driver.

My '47 is a car. I love antique vehicles, car or truck. I don't know why this board is so quiet. I guess the street rodders haven't found us out yet.
I'm also running a Nova front clip. Rides like a Cadillac, and handles great!

I'm glad to see other people out there besides me. My truck is a 49 Chevy 3100 series half ton model. Is your nova sub front or rear steer steering box? I have rear so it's next to the firewall. I need info on u-joints and angles. I posted my first reply on info about gas tanks that fit in between the rear portion of the frame rails. Any info send my way. I'll try and help you guys out also. Let me know whats going on with yours.

mkmiller1 04-26-2001 09:52 PM

I was wanting to know where I could buy a gas tank for a '47 or '48 model 1/2 ton. these were under the bed and that's where I'll be putting mine, but I want to leave space at the rear for the spare tire. Anyone have any ideas? I'm going with the MII setup up front, I hope it goes well. any advice on this will be appreciated also. Thanks, Matthew

It is good to see people here. I use my trucks hard, and I am always trying to fix them better. My kids love to drive them to school. These old trucks are great to have.

I'm Looking for the same thing to do to mine. Nobody opened up the topic entitled
I've made it here. You can get a new one from Rock Valley antique truck parts but
there pretty pricy{$450-650}. I'm looking for something out of a junk yard that'll be
a little cheaper that I can restore myself. Sorry I don't have there number handy but I
can get it.

WOW! $450, that's 3 to 5 times as much as I paid for a couple of my trucks! think I'll have to stick with the salvage yards.

I have a 53 3100 that I'm building for drag and drive. I try to contribute if I think it's relevant. Just because no one replies doesn't mean they are not listening. I'm running a 6-71 NOS blown I6 292 at 1000+HP so not a lot of interest in it but I still post. Thank you for your time.

nice truck as always mick. dont forget to look at the post dates, where there was a few posts in 2001 and then NOTHING till yesterday.:lol:

APRIL 2001. jeeze. I had just quit my job at the stereo shop and started aircraft avionics and was talking about going to college in the fall. it was still 5 months before the cowards crashed the planes, and you didnt have to show up 3 hours before your flight. pop machines still had 50 cent cans, nobody was texting and driving, and you could go see a movie that wasnt about CGI heros overcoming adversity and coming together to defeat world ending threats.

HA I got that beat. April 1973 (28 years prior to April 2001). I was approaching my 18th birthday, headed off to college in the fall to a state with 18 as the drinking age (but with 3.2 beer). Gas cost 29 cents a gallon, the price of a candy bar was 10 cents. For a $1 I could go to MacDonalds and get a hamburger, small fries, and a small coke. I was just a few months away from my Dad's grasp when I grew my hair down to my shoulders and wore bell bottom jeans with a "Keep on Truckin" patch sewed onto the rear pocket. Little did I know that fifty years later I would be taking that patch literally.

I think its worth mentioning that since this thread started over 20 years ago the interest in ADs flat exploded (right along with prices)
