I dont know, but I get 20 MPG from my 350 powered 68 suburban, it is not hard to get better gas mileage, even my 67 catalina got 21 MPG with a 400 cid non overdrive.
If we paid attention to mileage a little more, our demand would be less, and so would gas prices.
I am a cheapskate of the worst kind, and am looking towards buying a 55 mpg diesel VW soon. It is all priorities, I think running an efficient engine, one that makes reasonable horsepower, and then adding nitrous for when you need a boost is the logical solution.
The go-fast crowd has ignored the mileage crowd, but both can(sort of) coexist.
Variable electronic ignitions, low friction parts, and even things like variable lifters. etc.
Overdrive transmissions, and many other possibilities are often overlooked, and if incorporated, give better mileage than new cars, because the new ones are so restricted by exhaust and compression ratio.
The technology is there, why not use it.
