lifting '86 K20 - rear axle load/braking sensor?

New to this forum... just registered today.

I'm putting a 6" Skyjacker Softride on my '86 K20 suburban this weekend. I noticed what appears to be some kind of braking valve on the frame (lines go thru it to rear drums) with a knee/lever type link to a bracket on the axle. I'm guessing with a load, the lever on the valve is moved 'up' and this puts more braking power/proportion to the rear wheels? So, if I lift it, this moves the lever on the valve WAY 'down'. Would this decrease my braking power/proportion to the rear? Lifting the truck would at least prevent the lever moving 'up' all the way...... Anyone else considered this?

Also, any tips on installing this would be appreciated.... Like, Do I need the sway bar drop kit? Or, I want the softest possible ride from my lift - anything I can do to ensure this?

Thanks
