If the price is right, I would buy it anyway and have it checked out to make sure. Sometimes those shifters can be tricky to set up if you don't know what your doing. You can install them with the wrong linkage arm and even though they work, they don't work well. Three speed trannys are easy pickin's if thats the issue.
The linkage can also be hooked up backward so down to the left is 2nd and down to the right is Reverse.
