Sorry to hear about the trouble.
As noted above, you need to find it while it's acting up.
How does it run just before it dies? Just stops or stumbles then dies?
Does it run normal when you do get it to start up again?
If it's flooding (due to floats), it would at least run at higher rpm's and quit at idle and yes, smoke when restarted.
If it stumbles (giving it gas and not getting any real response) it may be starving for fuel.
If it just plane quit's with no warning, check ignition system.
