My truck is a total budget build. I never plan on showing it and just want something that looks good and drives well. So far I have spent about $1800 including the $600 I bought it for. I doubt it will go over $8000, but you never know.

I buy a lot of take off or used parts when new parts aren't required. The stereo and entertainment will be nearly $1500 when finished and if I run out of things to do, I want to do an LS1 + 6 speed swap, so that will be $2500+.

I also take my time buying things. Like my wheels, there are a ton of them out there, I just waited until someone needed to get rid of them and scored a set for $150 (I have seen sets on ebay for $500). I also have sold a lot of things I have replaced or upgraded, so that saves a few bucks.

Look at it this way, if you plan for the worst, then you're fine.
