Re: New stereo skips (tuner and on CD)

In a perfect world you would have the radio ground tied to wherever the battery was grounded. I have fixed a lot of weird electrical issues by making sure I have good grounds. Battery to engine block, block to frame, frame to cab, block to cab... etc. If do not have these ground straps and you try to ground to the cab, just remember the cab is insulated from the frame by the rubber cab mounts.

I would suggest running the ground wire to the firewall and cleaning the area to bare metal, then run a ground strap under the hood from that location to where the battery is grounded.

Another possible issue is loose connection stated earlier. I would suggest using crimp connectors for all connections or better yet, solder them all. I have seen many problems that I traced back to somone just twisting the wires together and wrapping them up in electrical tape. PO did that to my truck and it almost burned one day after I first bought it.

No twisted wire connections please!
