The oem gate with letters weigh 47 pounds painted, the aftermarket gates with no letters are like 2 lbs less unpainted. How much thinner does that translate into. They do not bend easily. If you can bend them You can bend and oem. I am not saying they are perfect. I've repaired oem tailgates and have alot of time in them.
