If the prior owners or owner did not replace the tailgate in the trucks history and you remove the tailgate band that has the GMC on it, you should find an original stamped GMC Tailgate. If it reads Chevy then most likely your gate was swapped out after it left the factory. I hope that helps.
I must say, NICE TRUCK. It is the same color as mine on the inside. I absolutly love that color green on your glove box and gage cluster/steering column.
