I kinda wondered about that patent statement as well. 2-3 years is normal could take longer! They could just put "patent pending" on the parts and be protected retroactively when thier patent is approved. You do not have to actually have the patent approval to be protected. The "patent pending" protects you until you are approved. But if your patent eventually is denied, then you have no protection.
