as stated above, it depends on what your amp is designed to run, and the minimum impedance should be listed on it...

For example:
most amps nowdays can handle a 2 ohm load, so if you have a 2 channel amp that can handle a 2 ohm load, a single 2 ohm sub can be run on each channel.

now if you want to run 2 subs or speakers on a single channel, you would connect (2) 4ohm subs together to achieve 2 ohms.
