Just to chip in here, AusMarty is correct, you're peening the panel when sandblasting. Heat is not an issue with sandblasting, I've never seen anything come out of the blast cabinet that was even remotely warm, no matter how aggressively I've blasted it.
Different media would be a better idea, the professionals use plastic media to strip paint on body panels.
