Other than saying that you really can't see the difference between a 3/4 ton and a 1/2 ton without looking for clues and details -- I pretty much agree with the rest of this.

Modernizing parts, like disc brakes, are easier to locate for a 1/2 ton than a 3/4 ton (unless you are more or less changing over to a 1/2 ton in the process) and it is kind of silly to choose a 3/4 ton if you want to drop it into the weeds since that just means doing everything you would do to a 1/2 ton plus removing more parts.

Of course; if your budget depends on the gross weight of your change jar then look for drivability and "kind of the way I want it already."

If your plans include; I want it to be wicked fast then skip the heavy work trucks because the difference in frame components will cost you about 40 to 50 hp.

If you plan to customize the be-jezzuz out of it then pick it for the parts it has an the lowest gross weight of lacy brown used to be metal areas.
