That's odd.

I know that the idea of using aluminum flat will work, you just have to be patient and bend it a little at a time to get a good fit.

The speaker intrigues me now. It sound like you MIGHT have to drile 2-4 small holes in order to mount the speaker, but I can't say with any certainty unless I saw the truck myself, sorry.
