I used clears on my truck. Just use colored bulbs. Nothing illegal about it. They're bright at night and the turnsignals are really bright, even during the day. Much safer than my 40 year old faded/fogged over amber lenses.

I went with the invisible lens on the side markers.

Are you referring to the plane jane makers that are flat all the way across?
