As long as you didn't move the whole distributor, then the timing should still be the same. The tip of the rotor will be under the #1 plug terminal as long as #1 is on top dead center or TDC.

Did you put the rotor on correctly? There is a notch in the side to correspond with the correct fitment. Is the cap on correctly? Again, there is a notch for correct fit. Is the firing order correct? 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in a clockwise direction. Just some things to look at. Do you get spark? Is there power to the dizzy?
