I didnt like that either. I thought about putting it on the end but its buried in the frame rail. I dont have a drain. It's dry out here and I dont think that much water builds up. My last tank didnt have anything in it when removed. I mostly was worried about road debris ripping it off the tank even though its really high up in there.

If I mounted the tank with that port on top there was not enough clearance for the switch. I'm not welding on it 'cuz its aluminum.
