I kinda like the allen head screws. I'm sure they'd also be more scratch resistant when tightening than a regular phillip's head screw. You could also spray where the lense is stock, black, body color and have the center look worked into the body from a distance. I was considering making a trim piece.

If I get motivated, I'll talk to my old cad teacher and see if he'll let me draw up a little trim piece that goes over the cut tabs and the newly created pocket, to tie things together and hide the cuts.
