It actually sounds like somethign isn't right with your truck.
I find the main thing to kill them is one of two things, wither your angles are not right, or the 2 shafts are not slipping the way they should on the splines.
Mine was binding so bad it took 2 of us 2 1/2 hrs with a torch and a BFH to take it apart.
