The "footprint" (ie, the opening in the pickup box and periphery of the lamp) is the same. I can't comment on any wiring differences.

IIRC the change was made with the restyled front end for the 2003 model year.

You didn't ask - but I actually prefer the earlier lamps. To me, they fit the opening and the smooth appearance matches the rest of the bed corner. The later lamps look to me like they have "growths" which should be surgically removed.... (lol).
