If you've got 8 grand, you can build a 500hp BBC and have plenty of money left over, and way more torque than a 350. Not to mention a 500hp BBC won't be stressed near as hard as a 500hp 350.

But, if you're building a 350 and that's the end all for you and you've got 8 g's, then I'd get an all forged bottom end, AFR or Brodix heads and a stout roller cam. Or you can go the easy route and just buy a 500hp crate motor, and save yourself the trouble. You can find 500hp small block builds all over the internet try www.ChevyHiperformance.com, www.carcraft.com, www.superchevy.com - there is TONS of info out there.
