I was driving one day and heard a clicking sound. I finally figured out that it was my trip odometer. I had reset it a few miles earlier. I reset it as I was driving, making sure that the stem was all the way out. It cured the clicking, which essentially was keeping it from turning over to 10.0 miles in my case, too.

I don't know if that is your problem or not. But, make sure the stem is all the way out when you push it to reset it. It worked for me.
