It's been many many years, but I agree, those look like Armstrongs to me.
The first thing I did when I bought my truck in 1977 was drive it to a tire shop and trade the new highway tires (what was the dealership thinking?) for new 7.50-16 Armstrong 8PR traction tires.
I had split rims, and the guy changing the tires did okay but it was not his area of expertise. One tire refused to balance, and he finally tore it down. He had left the new liner folded up inside the tire... After fixing that little issue, he thanked me for my business and asked me to please not come back as long as I owned those wheels.
