Alot of the complaints are common to many or most of the vehicles of the time.

Rust? You almost can't find Fords of the period of any kind. They've returned to the earth.
Battery rot? More of a problem with the batteries of the day.
Gas tank? Many/most trucks had the tank in the cab for many years, not just GM. I don't think it was really much of a safety problem either. So why is it stupid?
