With the right spring you shouldn't experience valve float. I have a SBC with hyd roller lifters and had my N/A setup running 7k+ a few times with no issues. Lighter valvetrain components would probably help as well.
Good luck with the combo, a BB runing 6500+ rpms will be nice.
Have you done any work to the TKO 500? That's going to be a lot of weight and torque for that trans.
