A little bit(about 2-3") is ok just to use to make connections. It's not a good idea to use it for the entire line. The modern fuels with ethanol can eat through rubber pretty quick. Alot of new rubber lines are impregnated with silicone to keep this from happening as fast, but will still eat through over time.
