The rear of the 73-79 frame kicks up sooner than the 65 does. You will probably have to do the same as I did.
It was a PITA, and I wish I didn't do it, I should have just shortened the 65 long bed frame.
Well, I was thinking of getting a donor section from a different cab than I have. The first part of the floor just in front of the rear panel OR to the front of the bench seat of the donor cab could be used to raise the 66 floor and then I could use a later model seat and track.
I could also use the later model rear cab mounts and use the saddle gas tanks.
It would be a lot of fabrication but the end result would be a better frame.
I don't want to shorten the frame. The LWB is fine with me. There is a 3" difference in wheel base but at this point I could live with that.
I need to do something. The frame I have is slightly racked, has been extensively repaired and now the drivers side frame horn is not unlike swiss cheese from my attempt to put power steering on the truck.
What a mess I have gotten myself into Olly...
I guess I could just get a 69-72 frame, swap the rear cab mount brackets, swap in the 63-66 frame horns and be done with it.
Problem is finding a leaf sprung frame in those years.
