Re: Tried My New Sandblasting Attachment For Pressure Washer Today (pics)

I'm thinking of getting this for my 4000psi washer.

Anymore opinions about this method?

Here's a couple comments I found by using google:

OK, lots of conjecture here, not much real EXPERIENCE.

I own one of these and have for several years. You can get them at Northern for about $60.

They RAWK for greasy/nasty jobs.

I used this on my axles which were way funkified, and it took everything down to the core FAST.

Things I have learned:

1) Use pool filter sand, HD sells this for about $5 for a 50# bag. I do a lot of it out in the yard, it's good for the grass. Play sand won't cut it, too many rocks/crap. Since it's wet, no need to worry about free silica.

2) your media HAS to be DRY or it won't feed right.

3) As mentioned previously you have to be ready to paint it NOW. I mean it was changing color before I really even finished for some of the longer jobs. I typically just spray it down with brake cleaner and prime immediately after.

4) The better the pressure washer, the better the job. I used a 3000PSI and it was good/faster than anything I could do in a cabinet.

5) Not good for fine work, but for large jobs like frames, axles, and such works well. I have also talked to several others who use this and say it's good for sheet metal in that it cools as you blast so it won't warp the panel.

Hope this helps.
And another:

Quote:
First off I have one I bought at Walmart for my honda powered pr. washer 2800 lbs and about 2.5 gpm. The price was about $20 and the ends fit my washer. THEY DO NOT BLAST under high pressure. mine blasted with the snad blaster taking the place of the high pressure nossle BUT they work great and I have always wonder why no one else has used it. The sand is mixed with the water and that helps reduce airborn silica. and flash rust will occur with any blasting. I have use phosphate solutions that mix with water. There is not the problem with warping of the sheet metal. I also have a commercial pressure blaster tanke that I did my old truck with heavy gage metal that worked great. Both cause a big mess.
